Our stated clerk does the paper work. A permanent record of all the minutes is kept; copies are made and distributed to all members of presbytery prior to the next meeting. Preliminary minutes are sent out by the clerk in preparation for each meeting. The official membership roll of presbytery is kept by this office.
Our treasurer keeps the book and pays the bills. Reports of the financial condition of presbytery are kept up to date and are presented at each meeting.
Presbytery Ministries Coordinator
The coordinator is basically in charge of ensuring that all presbyteries programming and functions of presbytery operate efficiently. The coordinator is an advisory member of all ministry teams and assists teams in submitting their reports to presbytery in a timely manner. Goals, objectives, programs, actions, and priorities are considered and planned and presented to presbytery by the PMC.
Board of Trustees
The board encourages full support of the Presbytery budget and Our United Outreach by the particular churches of the Presbytery. When there is a transfer of property the board is called in to administer and oversee the proceedings.
The council receives the written and oral reports of the teams and boards and submits them to presbytery with recommendations if necessary. A proposed budget is review and presented to presbytery for adoption. The council plans the program and agenda for each meeting of presbytery. The council cultivates and promotes the development of WTP, both spiritual and material.
Probationer Care Ministry Team
All candidates for ministry in West Tennessee Presbytery meet with the Probationer Care Team as they explore their response to God’s calling. The team questions, advises, encourages, and prays for each candidate through the course of their probationary period until they are approved for ordination.
Discipleship Ministry Team
The Discipleship Ministry Team helps our children, youth, as well as adults in the development of their spiritual lives and in learning what it means to be a member of the body of Christ. This team conducts camps, retreats, rallies, and other events that bring us all closer together as a presbytery and closer to our Creator.
Clergy Care Ministry Team
The purpose of this team is to minister to those who minister to the rest of us. The team supports and encourages our ministers in what is often a challenging role. Counsel is given when a pastor encounters difficult situations. Ministers are encouraged by the committee to continue their education and are notified by the team when such opportunities are available.
The team in concerned primarily with reviewing the session minutes of each congregation.
This is the team that finds the people who serve on all the ministry teams and boards of our presbytery as well the requisite number of delegates to the Synod and General Assembly. The committee nominates a person, alternating between ordained ministers and elders, to serve as Moderator of the presbytery.
Finance and Benefits Ministry Team
The Finance team is tasked with putting together our annual budget and administering the insurance program. It is responsible for keeping West Tennessee Presbytery financially healthy.
Missions Ministry Team
The team assists our churches with the calling of a new minister, an interim or stated supply. Churches are connected with preachers to fill an empty pulpit and to administer sacraments when the churches are without an ordained pastor. The team is also tasked with helping congregations work through tough times when there is discord within a church.
New Church Development Task Force
The task force has the great responsibility of building God’s kingdom through the establishment of new churches in our presbytery. NCD works intimately with new fellowships in helping them in their ministries whether it is assisting them in the call of a pastor or making sure their places of worship are adequate to meet the needs of the fledgling congregations.
The committee serves as a liaison between the General Assembly’s Committee on Theology and Social Concerns and makes recommendations to presbytery based upon the GA’s approval of such social concerns.
